Hi all,
I am writing after a terribly long break. I suddenly forgot that I had a blogpost which was not thematic but it helped me unwind, helped me jot down my thoughts and the way I spent time with my beautiful kids. Yes, that's right. I now have 2 lovely kids. My daughter is close to 17 and son, close to 11 and what blessings they are!!!
Today I am writing about my reading the Mahabharat with my son. The book is an illustrated abridged version of the original Mahabharatam, suggested by my dear husband. My better half has a knack of finding the right books for the right age. What's amazing is in the 300 odd pages, it covers all essential events of Mahabharatam, the greatest war of all times. I will click a photo of the book when I am back to base in Chennai.
This book starts off from Shanthanu and Satyavati, covers Bheeshma's celibacy oath, how the 3 queens Amba, Ambika and Ambalika were impregnanted via Sage Vyasa, the birth of Pandu and Dhritarashtra, the kins of theirs, and until Krishna, the grand deceit through the sad game of dice, amazing war, the victory of Pandavas, the curse of Ashvatthama and then how the son of Abhimanyu, Parikshith ruled the kingdom of Hastinapuram so well.
We didn't end with this. My son wanted a lively quiz on this and we used AI to generate some basic to mediocre questions. Thus ended our small pursuit of knowledge. Its nice when you recite such stories to kids. And ask me why? That's because 1) you get to refresh your memory, 2) you spend quality time with your kids - believe me quality time matters and 3) you inculcate important moral values in your kids - that will guide them through the think and thin of life. I pause here but welcome you to contact me. I missed writing and hopefully will continue - not theme based - but simply write for the love of writing.
Always miss you,
Ciao.
Nitya
